Information on our ‘PreK’ Program
Preschool children are making developmental strides and expressing an interest in the world around them. They want to touch, taste, smell, hear, and test things for themselves. They are eager to learn by experiencing and doing. Through their play, preschoolers learn developmental skills and language usage. Cornerstone provides an academically enriched program with hands-on experiences. Cornerstone utilizes the We Can curriculum for academic enhancement and the Pinnacle curriculum for exploratory learning.
The We Can program is a Christian based curriculum that provides development in language arts and mathematics. The preschool child learns to recognize letters, sounds and develop fundamental reading skills. The introduction to phonics sounds and special sounds will assist in your child’s language usage and development.
The curriculum is enhanced by the local independent school district. With the addition of the Pinnacle curriculum, children are encouraged to explore the world around them. The preschool classroom is designed with learning centers in areas such as science, blocks, sensory, manipulative, and computer labs. Each learning center is arranged for individual level of interest. The children rotate through a variety of these centers to promote exploration and discovery learning. Cornerstone provides a classroom that focuses on learning yet remembers the importance of fun.
