Information on our ‘School Age’ Program

The Summer Camp program gives each student the chance to build on the lessons they have learned at school. Cornerstone provides many avenues of exploration. Every week has a new theme packed with daily activities.

The schedule is designed to expand your child’s mind, encourage self-esteem and stimulate the sense of wonder. Our camp environment provides the opportunity to be involved in art activities, science, cooking, computers, games and music. The child will have three to four weekly field trips in the local community. They will visit museums, factories, newsrooms, water plants, colleges and much more.

We also include some all time favorites like roller skating, laser tag and swimming. Our camp counselors specialize in the development of school age children. The counselors and children work together to create experiences that provide unique social and emotional development. The calendar gives your child a summer to remember and peace of mind to the parent that the student is safe and engaged with activities for the summer.

Cornerstone offers a safe and secure environment when public school is released each day. Before and after school care is provided as well as transportation from area schools. The elementary schools included in our program are located in Lake Worth, Eagle Mountain/Saginaw, and Azle Independent School Districts.

When students arrive, they place their belongings in their own cubical and proceed into the class for a healthy snack. When snack time is complete, each student is given an opportunity to complete any homework assignments for the day. The lead teacher will work with the parent to understand the expectation for homework they want for their child. Grade appropriate worksheets are available for any student who is in need of some additional practice in certain studies.

The classroom provides many centers that include board games, crafts, science, music, dramatic play, game center and building. Every student is able to participate in these activity areas daily. Outdoor play is also included in the afternoon schedule. The playground provides the student to free play and organized game.

We want each student to know they have a creative place to come after school.  They can complete their assignments and still have a chance to play with friends. In addition, the parent can pick up their students and know that the daily homework will not interfere with evening family time.
